SEASON IN CONTEXT

A first year in Region 5-3A—and the last of the Williams era.

Greenbrier entered 2015 replacing 1,000-yard rushers Paul Gonser and Hayden Boyles. The Bobcats started 0–2, then beat Goodpasture and White House 51–13 across consecutive weeks. After reaching 3–3, the region race tightened around a turnover-heavy Heritage loss and a 35–28 road comeback at Whites Creek that kept the playoff path open.

The Thursday loss to CPA left a conditional route: Greenbrier needed Whites Creek to beat Stratford during the Oct. 23 open week, then needed to win the finale. Stratford won, eliminating the Bobcats before a 41–0 finale. Seven of ten opponents reached the postseason, all six Greenbrier losses came against playoff teams, and the opponents finished a combined 58–58.

It became Kirk Williams' final team. The Nov. 2 finale report still described him building toward 2016; his health-related retirement was announced Nov. 15. Williams left after 18 seasons as Greenbrier head coach, a 106–98 record, the 2004 state-final run and 33 years in coaching.

Whites Creek source boundary: the 35–28 final and scoring-by-period record are secure, but the contemporary report assigns six individual touchdowns against a five-touchdown team total. VOTCLive leaves the player-attribution conflict open.
SERIES DOORS
PEOPLE · HONORS · IDENTITY

Captains, line play and the backs who carried the year.

Cameron Grogan

Returning quarterback, captain and defensive back. The contemporary all-region report placed him on its first team; the school register labels him a Region 5-3A defensive-back MVP. He was also all-academic.

Jacob Waffird

Captain and all-region selection. His recovered high point is the Whites Creek comeback: 24 carries for 195 yards, with the article's touchdown count retained as disputed.

Hunter Presley

Injured on the second snap at Springfield, later returned at East Nashville. The contemporary report placed him on its first team; the school register labels him a Region 5-3A offensive-line MVP.

Isaiah Farmer

Broke an 83-yard touchdown at Goodpasture, ran for 93 yards against White House and logged 112 yards at Whites Creek.

Taylor Cox

Ran for 102 yards against Portland, opened the scoring at Goodpasture and scored Greenbrier's second touchdown against CPA.

Bailey Edwards · Briley Hankins

Joined Waffird on the all-region list. Edwards caught a 22-yard touchdown at Goodpasture; Hankins appears in the disputed Whites Creek scoring account.

Christian Warren

Made four straight extra points at Goodpasture, a 30-yard field goal against White House and two field goals at East Nashville.

Cody Matherly

Returned an interception for the sealing touchdown at Montgomery Central. The Goodpasture account renders the fourth-quarter scorer as Cole Matherley; source spellings are retained in the game summaries.

Award-label boundary: the Nov. 30 contemporary story describes Presley and Grogan as first-team selections. Greenbrier's surviving school honor register labels them Region 5-3A MVPs at offensive line and defensive back. Both source descriptions are retained without forcing them into one hierarchy.

Official postseason recordTSSAA's Class 3A and 4A brackets verify seven playoff opponents, including Class 3A runner-up CPA and three quarterfinalists.
Contemporary reportingEvery game has a permanent Main Street Media report; spring, retirement and all-region coverage complete the season arc.
Complete season recordThe independent team history carries all dates, sites and scores, the 4–6 record, 188–287 scoring and 2–4 region mark.
Historical game entriesMaxPreps supplies eight complete period lines and one three-quarter partial. Montgomery Central has no published period split.
Whites Creek scoring conflict: the secure team result is 35–28, with Greenbrier scoring 0, 14, 7 and 14 by quarter. The game story credits Waffird with four touchdowns and Farmer with one, then also names Hankins on a tying score. One attribution must be wrong; the archive does not guess which.
East Nashville period-line boundary: the historical entry provides first-, second- and third-quarter scoring plus the 13–20 final, but no fourth-quarter cells. Only the populated periods appear.
All-region label difference: the contemporary story uses “first team” for Presley and Grogan; the school register calls their entries positional MVPs. Each label remains tied to its source.

No absent quarter, player total or play sequence was inferred. Publisher prose, photography and video remain with their owners; this archive provides original factual summaries and direct links.
