TRADITION · THE CARROLL-PITT TROPHY

A game that remembers two Marines

The Greenbrier-Springfield football winner receives the Carroll-Pitt Trophy, honoring Greenbrier's William Lynn Pitt and Springfield's Dwight Carroll, both members of the Class of 1966 and United States Marines who died while serving in Vietnam. The Greenbrier Athletic Hall of Fame records that the two were competitors and friends, and that American Legion Post 45 and VFW Post 2120 established the annual trophy in their memory.
