Three first-half turnovers in heavy rain decided the county trophy game.
Oct. 23, 2020 · Home · Region 5-4A · Pitt–Carroll Trophy · Springfield defeated Greenbrier 17–0. Record after game 4–3; region record 2–3.
After several rain delays, both teams struggled with the wet field. Springfield failed to convert Greenbrier's first two turnovers, but Stoney Smith's late second-quarter fumble was recovered at the 2. Kevontez Hudson scored on the next play, and Luis Diaz-Jijon's 29-yard field goal made it 10–0 at halftime.
Hudson added a 20-yard touchdown early in the third quarter. Springfield held Greenbrier to one first down and 34 total yards, while Keontez Woodard ran for 111 yards and Hudson added 74.
The 17–0 loss ended Greenbrier's two-game winning streak, but the season was still alive. The Bobcats traveled to White House the next week with the region's final playoff berth going to the winner.
