First-round exits became an annual expectation

Steve Sorrells' last team reached the 1995 bracket. Scott Smith's two teams followed in 1996 and 1997. Kirk Williams returned to his alma mater in 1998 and sent each of his first four teams to November.

The seven seasons total 77 games, a 30–47 record and 1,213 points scored against 1,525 allowed. The record was uneven; the continuity was not. Greenbrier made the playoffs every year, part of twelve consecutive annual appearances from 1994 through 2005.

The clearest changes came in sequence: the 1997 defense and passing game, Williams's 1998 homecoming, the first winning season since 1981 in 1999, the four-game recovery in 2000 and a complete ten-game regular-season film record in 2001.

2002 changed what November meant

Every team in this chapter reached the first round, but none advanced. In 2002 Greenbrier beat Lexington 27–0 for the program's first TSSAA playoff victory. The breakthrough belongs to its own chapter; this one preserves the people, films and accumulated pressure behind it.
