For the first time since 1982, Greenbrier finished a football season without a losing record. The Bobcats' 5–5 finish was also Steve Sorrells' first .500 season as head coach — a tangible payoff after the program had climbed from 2–8 in 1988 to 3–7 in 1989, then 4–6 in both 1990 and 1991.

Greenbrier opened with a 14–12 win over Montgomery Central, then lost three straight before shutting out Houston County 21–0. The biggest win came on Homecoming, a 39–12 victory over Stewart County on Oct. 16. After the White House loss dropped the Bobcats to 3–5, they finished the season by beating Harpeth 17–12 and Portland 22–20 — two wins that pulled the final record back to .500.
Class and district change: 1992 was Greenbrier's final season in the Class AA / District 10 alignment. In 1993 the Bobcats moved into Class AAA and District 5.
Freshman Derrick Lucas is listed at 118 rushing yards against Stewart County in the school’s 100-yard register. The contemporary Homecoming story reports 110 yards. Its scoring rundown credits him with two touchdown runs and a 21-yard touchdown reception, while its paragraph says he had two touchdowns; both forms remain visible on the game page.
A later newspaper profile said Lucas started only six games as a freshman yet rushed for almost 800 yards and seven touchdowns. That approximation remains source-stated, not an exact season total.

The Aug. 29, 1993 returning-leaders list reports 1992 figures: Brian Rottero made 14 catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Mike Roberts had 39 solo and 12 assisted tackles, 51 total. Chris Jones had 34 solo and 13 assisted tackles, 47 total. These are last season’s totals, not 1993 game statistics.
