1992 vs. Stewart Co.
The year did not arrive in a straight line. Greenbrier opened with a 14–12 win over Montgomery Central, then lost three straight before shutting out Houston County 21–0. The biggest win came on Homecoming, a 39–12 victory over Stewart County on Oct. 16. After the White House loss dropped the Bobcats to 3–5, they finished the season by beating Harpeth 17–12 and Portland 22–20 — two wins that pulled the final record back to .500.
The other first spark came from freshman Derrick Lucas . The 100-yard rushing records list 118 yards against Stewart County. A newspaper profile published during Lucas's sophomore season later looked back on 1992 and said that, as a freshman, he started only six games yet rushed for almost 800 yards and seven touchdowns .
That Stewart County entry is the earliest 100-yard rushing marker in the collection for the player who would become Greenbrier's first Mr. Football winner two years later.
