Greenbrier finished 4–6 for the second straight season, but the numbers underneath the record moved in the right direction. The Bobcats went from 71 points scored in 1990 to 104 in 1991, while points allowed fell from 214 to 193. The result was a 54-point improvement in season point differential even though the final record stayed the same.

In District 10-AA, Greenbrier finished fifth at 1–4. The district win was a 21–6 victory over Macon County. Springfield won the district at 5–0, followed by Westmoreland, White House and Portland before Greenbrier and Macon County.

The fall roster lists 45 players with numbers, heights, weights, positions and classes, plus coaches Steve Sorrells, Kirk Williams and Wayne Eidson. It also names coaching staff Danny L. Weeks and Doug Hintemeyer, statistician Jeff White, film operator Bart Krisle, managers and school personnel. A second copy marked “Homecoming 91” is highlighted and handwritten, a working football document with handwritten notes.

The season itself moved in fits and starts. After the opening loss to Montgomery Central, Greenbrier beat Macon County 21–6. Cheatham County then shut the Bobcats out 22–0; the game story says Greenbrier was held under 100 yards of total offense and trailed 15–0 at halftime, while Steve Sorrells singled out Shannon Swatman, Adam Marlatt and Bernie Hudgens on defense.

The next week produced the season’s strongest passing line. In the 33–6 Springfield loss, Todd Williamson went 9-of-19 for 156 yards and hit Adam Marlett for a 76-yard touchdown. Marlett finished with seven catches for 138 yards and also made eight tackles with an assist. The same story records Todd Dorris with nine tackles and five assists and Jeff Ward with five tackles before a shoulder injury.

Greenbrier later beat Houston County 21–7 and produced its largest win of the year with a 28–0 shutout of Stewart County. After the White House loss, the Bobcats beat Harpeth 9–6 before closing with Portland. Greenbrier’s records list two individual rushing performances: Jeff Ward went for 114 yards against Montgomery Central, and Jeff Hall ran for 102 against Stewart County.
