An early volleyball player
Mitzi graduated in 1980 after playing basketball and volleyball at Greenbrier. The Hall places her on the school’s inaugural volleyball squad and credits her with a volleyball scholarship to Middle Tennessee.
The university’s own volleyball record book lists Mitzi Williams for 1980–83, giving her college career a second source.
Returning to Greenbrier
The Hall describes twelve years as Greenbrier’s head volleyball coach, including six district championships and a sectional championship. It also records later service as a GHS assistant principal and Greenbrier Elementary principal.
What the 2000 record shows
The Hall biography reports 39 wins for her 2000 team and calls it a state champion. TSSAA’s tournament record instead shows a 2–0 win over Lewis County followed by a 0–2 loss to Page, the eventual champion.
The 39-win total remains attributed to the Hall; the state-title claim is not adopted. Greenbrier’s TSSAA volleyball championships came in 2007 and 2008.
