Greenbrier opened 1–4 before the season flipped. The Bobcats beat Macon County, shut out Springfield, edged Livingston Academy 29–28 and beat DeKalb County 35–21.

That four-game run secured another first-round appearance and gave Williams three playoff trips in his first three seasons.

White House ended the regular season with a 41–12 win, and Grundy County eliminated Greenbrier 26–19 in the first round. The final record was 5–6.

Captains & Leadership

Greenbrier’s captain register records a program-wide practice for this period: “1973–2001 Seniors were game captains.” The collection therefore does not assign a fixed season-captain list for this year unless a game program, roster or contemporary clipping identifies one.
