1994 · Rocket

A 5–6 record hides one of the program’s defining individual seasons: junior tailback Derrick “Rocket” Lucas became Greenbrier’s first Mr. Football winner and helped return the Bobcats to the TSSAA playoffs for the first time since 1977.

The Bobcats opened 3–0 by a reconstructed combined margin of 114–10. The season later swung through four one-score losses or near-one-score losses, including Springfield 14–12, Waverly 20–17, White House 48–42 and Portland 14–7.

Greenbrier reached November at 5–5 and drew Waverly again. TSSAA’s bracket fixes the playoff rematch at Nov. 11, 1994; Waverly won 20–7.
