1977 → 1994
TSSAA’s Greenbrier championship history records the program’s 1977 loss to Trousdale County and then no further postseason result until Nov. 11, 1994. That makes 1994 the first playoff return in seventeen years.
The official 1994 bracket lists Greenbrier at 5–5 against Waverly at 8–2. The Tigers won 20–7 and advanced to beat McNairy Central the following week.
THE REMATCH
Waverly twice in four weeks
Greenbrier’s first meeting with Waverly came Oct. 14 and ended 20–17. Four Fridays later, the playoff draw sent the Bobcats back against the same opponent. The second result was Waverly 20, Greenbrier 7.
The current collection has the Oct. 14 regular-season master; no full-game copy has been found for the Nov. 11 playoff game.
