A 3–0 opening, a hard middle and one more Waverly game
Greenbrier opened by beating Montgomery Central 42–0, Macon County 41–7 and Hickman County 31–3. The Bobcats then split the next four, including Derrick Lucas’ six-touchdown night against DeKalb County and a 20–17 loss to Waverly.
The eight-overtime Cat Classic, a Houston County win and the Portland finale left Greenbrier 5–5. The bracket sent the Bobcats back to Waverly four weeks after the regular-season meeting.

The return became a run
Greenbrier went back to the playoffs in 1995 and again under Scott Smith in 1996. Those first three trips opened a sequence of annual postseason appearances that continued through 2005.
