Steve Sorrells' Final Season

After an opening loss to David Lipscomb, Greenbrier won three straight and stood 4–2 after a shutout of DeKalb County.
The Bobcats then hit a difficult closing stretch, but still returned to the first round of the state playoffs. The matchup brought a rematch with Marshall County, a team Greenbrier had beaten 21–12 during the regular season.
The 7–41 playoff loss became the final game of Steve Sorrells’s tenure as head coach. Derrick Lucas, the previous year’s Mr. Football winner, was in his senior season.

Three straight wins and two shutouts brought a second consecutive playoff trip before Steve Sorrells’ eight-year head-coaching run closed.
The preseason capsule returns Derrick Lucas, Trey Castleman, Chris Galbreath, Brandt Holt and Billy Carneal while introducing a group that included Jeremiah Adams, Shawn Zeligman and Miles Collett.
Lucas scored three times against Marshall County. Castleman later completed 10 of 14 passes for 153 yards and touchdowns to Galbreath and Lucas in the DeKalb County shutout.
The first-round trip to Marshall County closed the season and Sorrells’ Greenbrier head-coaching tenure. The official final was 41–7.
