The two-win valley before the bowl run
Greenbrier lost its first five games, scoring 19 and allowing 134. A 12–8 win over Jo Byrns ended that opening run.
Tennessee Youth Center and Castle Heights then held the Bobcats scoreless. Greenbrier answered with a 12–6 win over Ashland City before Portland closed the season 35–6.
The two wins totaled 24–14. Four losses ended with Greenbrier scoreless. One year later, the same coaching tenure produced an 8–3 Blanket Bowl champion.

The surviving records do not fully use the same lines

Names in the surviving records
The surviving honors register has no 1970 entry. That is a source gap, not evidence that no recognition occurred.
No 1970 captain entry survives in the register.
One season inside a seven-year era
The combined 1969–75 record totals 38–35, 1,290–1,293 and twelve shutout wins. It moves from a conference runner-up through two Blanket Bowl titles and into Pearson’s return.
