Two wins to the semifinals
Preston Edwards opened the 2018 Class A-AA state tournament with a 7–2 win over Jeremiah Welch of Red Bank, then beat Gibbs’ Tyson Hefner 9–3. Those victories put the Greenbrier senior in the 285-pound semifinals.
White House’s Elijah Zweydorff won that semifinal 6–2. Edwards ultimately finished sixth; the final results list his record at 27–16. His medal was one of four Greenbrier earned at the tournament.

Another February result worth keeping
Two weeks before the individual tournament, Edwards beat Fairview’s Jackson Clevenger 6–4 in the state duals’ third-place match. Clevenger later won the individual 285-pound state title. The two results show why the dual tournament and the individual bracket each deserve a place in the record.
