A New Class, Another Playoff
2009 opened a new classification chapter for Greenbrier. MaxPreps’ historical index lists the Bobcats in Division 4A / District 9 with Kirk Williams as head coach and a 6–5 overall record.
The season was streaky in both directions: Greenbrier beat Springfield 26–25, lost at Creek Wood, then answered with wins over Sycamore and Portland. After a 35–6 loss to White House, the Bobcats beat Cheatham County and Macon County to reach 6–2.
Greenbrier went 1–2 over the final three regular-season games — a 28–0 loss to David Lipscomb, a 14–7 win over Westmoreland and a 7–0 loss to Goodpasture — before drawing DeKalb County in the Class 4A first round. The Bobcats’ season ended 41–25.
The 100-yard rushing records list three individual entries from the year: Treavor Thaxton against Springfield and Macon County, and Mason Head against Sycamore.
