A New Class, Another Playoff

Greenbrier moved into the new Class 4A / District 9 structure, went 6–5 and reached the first round of the TSSAA playoffs.

The 2009 season opened a new classification chapter. Greenbrier played in Class 4A and District 9-AA under head coach Kirk Williams, finished the regular season 6–4 and returned to the playoffs after missing the 2008 field.

The Bobcats alternated the first two results, then beat Sycamore and Portland to reach 3–1. Wins over Cheatham County and Macon County later pushed the record to 5–2. Greenbrier secured its sixth win at Westmoreland and finished third in District 9-AA at 3–2.

Goodpasture won the regular-season finale 7–0 before DeKalb County won a 41–35 first-round playoff game at Greenbrier. That six-point finish left the Bobcats 6–5 overall with 179 points scored and 205 allowed.

Three recorded 100-yard rushing games survive from the season: Treavor Thaxton against Springfield and Macon County, and Mason Head against Sycamore. A public slideshow records photographs from the first nine games, but it is season-level media rather than evidence for any single game.

Third in District 9-AA and back in the playoffs.

Greenbrier went 6–4 in the regular season, 3–2 in District 9-AA and 6–5 overall. The five district games produced a 67–63 scoring edge; the Bobcats finished behind Goodpasture and White House.

The ten regular-season opponents finished a combined 43–64. The schedule ranged from 9–2 Creek Wood and 8–4 David Lipscomb to winless Portland and Macon County.
