Greenbrier went 8–3, won District 8-2A and made the TSSAA state playoffs for the first time in program history.

The playoff run ended 22–0 against Trousdale County.

Greenbrier finished 8-3 under Jerry Pearson. The schedule accounts for 232 points scored and 163 allowed across 11 games.

The season’s largest win was 28–0 over Goodlettsville.

In the White House rivalry, Greenbrier beat the Blue Devils 47–19.

The scrapbook adds the human detail behind the 8-3 playoff season. At the postseason banquet, Don Fuquay was voted Most Valuable Offensive Player, while Dwayne Bagwell and Darrell Hodges shared Defensive MVP honors. The same banquet story says tackle Steve Sorrells had signed a football grant-in-aid with Austin Peay.

A separate All-Midstate clipping lists Darryl Hajdu as First Team All-Class AA, Steve Sorrells as Second Team and Don Fuqua as Third Team.
