Eight wins and a centerpiece player
The 1981 Bobcats finished 8–3, placed second in District 8-2A and reached the Industrial Bowl. It would remain Greenbrier’s last winning season until 1999.
The school honors register makes Mike Clark the season’s central individual story: first-team All-State, first-team All-Mid-State, All-District 8-2A and team MVP. The rushing records adds a 196-yard game against Goodpasture and 125 yards against Goodlettsville.
Scott Elder earned All-State honorable mention and third-team All-Mid-State recognition; Dale Bagwell, Daniel Owsley and Mitch Templeton also appear in the postseason honors. Gary Webster is recorded as Industrial Bowl Defensive MVP.

This feature stays with Clark’s Greenbrier career. A same-name conflict appears in outside college roster material, so the college chapter is deliberately omitted until that identity trail is fully resolved.
