Best on both sides of the ball
Greenbrier averaged 41.1 points and allowed 1.6. Jo Byrns and Charlotte each scored seven; the other seven opponents scored nothing. Every game was decided by at least 14 points.
The final five wins were consecutive shutouts totaling 203–0: Nashville Howard, Maplewood, Ashland City, East Robertson and Hendersonville. Seven of the nine wins reached 40 points.
The score list labels Greenbrier Red River Valley Conference Champions and adds that the team led Tennessee in scoring offense and scoring defense. The Hall of Fame likewise recognizes the team as 9–0 and says only two touchdowns were allowed.

The records do not fully agree
The independent schedule adds a September 2 Castle Heights 14–6 loss. Greenbrier’s score list and the Hall of Fame both record a 9–0 team, so the outside line remains separate and unresolved.
One season inside a seven-year run
The seven Greenbrier recorded seasons under Howse total 52–8, 1,527–343 and 28 shutout wins. The separate coaching record prints 52–9; the source difference remains open rather than being forced into one number.
