One coach, two defining programs
W. H. “Blue” Howse sits at the center of Greenbrier's early-1960s athletic story. The Hall's 1960–61 football team page identifies him as head coach of the two undefeated Red River Valley championship teams, while the Hall's 1962–63 girls basketball page identifies him as coach of the 19–0 regular-season Lady Cats and District 20 champions.
Football
Howse's Greenbrier football run included the 1957 perfect season, 1959 Strawberry Bowl, undefeated 1960 and 1961 teams and the 24-game winning streak that extended into 1962.
