Greenbrier’s early-1940s football record is uneven because the era itself was uneven. The surviving school record gives 1941 a complete 6–2 championship season, then increasingly incomplete schedules in 1942 and 1943, no football team in 1944 or 1945, and a postwar restart in 1946. Keeping those gaps visible tells a truer program story than smoothing them into a continuous season list.

Football continues, but the surviving records are incomplete. Known games stay public without pretending the schedules are whole.
The Greenbrier history records no football team in either season. Those blank years remain part of the timeline.
Jimmy Suter begins the postwar chapter. Four wins are documented; one Adams result remains unresolved in the surviving record.
George Fisher
The Athletic Hall of Fame identifies 1942 graduate George Fisher as captain of both Greenbrier football and basketball, with baseball and pole vaulting also part of his school career. His later Austin Peay career makes him a human bridge across the wartime break.
