The day Greenbrier became the Bobcats

The Greenbrier High School Athletic Hall of Fame preserves one of the most important identity dates on the entire site: in May 1940, the student body voted the Bobcat to be the emblem of Greenbrier's teams.

The football year

The fall season itself was 1–9 under Joe Henry Carter. The permanent story of 1940 is not the record — it is the name that generations of Greenbrier teams still carry.

Why this belongs above a schedule

Every later football title, state championship in another sport, cheer final, Showstoppers trophy and Voice of the Bobcats broadcast inherits this identity. This is the origin point for the word “Bobcats” across the entire site.
