“Please direct your attention toward the north end zone.”

Recovered from the original working archive. Selected passages appear in quotation panels; surrounding text supplies editorial context. This is a historical entry.

The file is called “2004 Write Up,” but its place in the archive is October 2024: a prepared welcome for the team two decades later. The speaker named in the script is Butch Savage.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I AM BUTCH SAVAGE, THE VOICE OF BOBCAT FOOTBALL FOR NEARLY THIRTY YEARS. AT THIS TIME PLEASE DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TOWARD THE NORTH ENDZONE. TONIGHT, WE HONOR ONE OF THE GREATEST TEAMS IN GREENBRIER FOOTBALL HISTORY.

The goal before the season

The tribute remembers the senior group setting a goal of practicing through Thanksgiving and frames 2004 as another step in raising the program’s expectations. It recognizes the offensive line, Roger Herndon and the team’s run to the BlueCross Bowl.

The script’s statistical and earlier-season claims are retained in the research register for comparison with the maintained 2004 archive.

The welcome back

AT THIS TIME, PLEASE JOIN ME IN WELCOMING BACK PLAYERS AND COACHES FROM THE 2004 TSSAA 3-A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RUNNER-UP TEAM!

This is a recovered script, not a newly located recording. Its value is in the words prepared to bring a memorable team home—and in hearing how the night was meant to sound through a familiar voice.
