A 5–1 start meets a hard closing month
Greenbrier won five of its first six. Dover and East Robertson were shut out, Westmoreland absorbed 46 points, and the only loss in the opening block was 19–12 to White House.
Dickson and Mt. Juliet then shut out Greenbrier in consecutive games, 48–0 and 38–0. Ashland City followed with a 20–12 win, leaving the final four-game block at 1–3 and 30–113.
An 18–7 win over Joelton stopped the slide and gave Pearson a winning first season. The local coaching record identifies 1966 as the start of his first three-year Greenbrier run.
