Eight straight, another title and the Athletic Bowl

The first eight games were all wins, totaling 228–39. Five were shutouts, capped by consecutive 19–0, 39–0 and 41–0 wins over East Robertson, Jo Byrns and Joelton.

Mt. Juliet ended the perfect start 20–6. Greenbrier then shut out Ashland City 6–0 to finish the regular season 9–1 and 240–59 before Dickson won the Athletic Bowl 35–6.

The school sheet labels Greenbrier Red River Valley Conference champion and marks Dickson as the Athletic Bowl. Kim Parker’s Hall profile remembers the 25–0 White House win as the championship highlight of his playing career.

The surviving records do not fully agree

The Hall calls Tommy Cannady captain of a 9–1 football team. Greenbrier’s full season is 9–2 including the Athletic Bowl, while its regular season is exactly 9–1. The captain list lists William Pitt, Butch Williams and Kim Parker in 1965, so the captain wording remains open.
