The quarterback of an 8–0 team

Nalan Fox quarterbacked and captained Greenbrier’s unbeaten 1957 football team, according to his Hall biography. The school’s season record independently documents 8–0 and the Lower Cumberland Valley championship.

A 1958 graduate, Fox also received senior-year recognition on the Nashville Banner’s All-Mid-State team. The Hall remembers his appreciation for coaches Harold Fletcher and Blue Howse.

Two basketball seasons to keep distinct

The Village Green names Fox among the principal players on the 1956–57 basketball team, which finished its regular season 17–3 and won the Sixth District championship. The roster also includes David Hall, David Fisher, Jimmy Walton, Tommy Bellar and Charles Mayes.

Fox’s Hall biography reports a 13–6 basketball record in his senior year. That later season belongs to 1957–58; it should not be combined with the previous team’s 17–3 regular-season mark. The Hall says he continued playing baseball and softball after school.
