Pearson’s First Run

Three seasons, a conference title and the first half of a Greenbrier coaching story that would resume in the 1970s.

1966–1968 · JERRY PEARSON

A first run before the playoff years

Jerry Pearson coached Greenbrier from 1966 through 1968, then returned from 1974 through 1978. His first Greenbrier stretch produced winning seasons and ended with the 1968 Red River Valley championship and a trip to the Crockett Bowl.

1968 · conference champions

Greenbrier started 7–0, including a 40–6 win over White House, before losses to Ashland City and Portland. Hickman County then won the Crockett Bowl 19–6 at Lawrenceburg.

1968 SEASON

The second Pearson chapter

Pearson returned in 1974. That second run eventually produced the 1976 Industrial Bowl championship and Greenbrier's first TSSAA playoff team in 1977, creating a direct bridge from the 1960s conference era to the postseason breakthrough.
