Surviving football record

A losing record with a winning margin

4–5

Harold Fletcher’s first Greenbrier team opened with wins over Smyrna and Coopertown. Three straight losses followed, but a 43–7 White Bluff win restored the season’s scoring balance.

The four wins combined to 99–15 and included shutouts of Coopertown and East Robertson. The five losses combined to 14–83, with Greenbrier scoreless in three of them.

That combination produced an unusual final line: 4–5 in results but 113–98 in scoring. The record remained below .500, yet the plus-15 point margin was an early sign of the climb that followed.
