Front row
The 1988 team-photo caption identifies Shannon Polen in the front row.
This source establishes the player’s presence on the team, but it does not supply a printed position, class or measurement line. Those details are therefore left blank rather than inferred from the photograph.
Name in the sources
The People Index uses Shannon Polen. Surviving material also prints: Shannon Poland (1988 Macon County newspaper). Those source spellings remain visible rather than being erased.
Postseason honoree

One touchdown with a printed surname variant
Polen caught Scotty Knight’s seven-yard touchdown pass in the 1988 win over Macon County. That article spells the surname “Poland,” while the team-photo caption and later honors record use Polen.
The 1989 school record lists Shannon Polen as All-Robertson County honorable mention. Keeping the two spellings attached to the same documented play makes the archive searchable without silently replacing the contemporary form.
