The interception at Macon and Greenbrier’s Tobacco Bowl score
Mantlo intercepted a pass on Macon County’s final drive to preserve the 14–7 win. At Page, he scored on a one-yard run and threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Sanders.
He also scored Greenbrier’s lone Tobacco Bowl touchdown on an 18-yard third-quarter run. The school honors record uses Michael Mantlo on the 1985 All-District 10-2A list, while contemporary stories commonly shorten the name to Mike.
