What the coaching file says
Assistant, then head coach
Greenbrier’s coaching register lists Hubert Smothers as an assistant from 1949 through 1951 and head coach in 1952. The available file supports those service years; it does not yet provide a fuller biography.
Kept open: Birthplace, education, playing career, later coaching stops and personal details remain unclaimed until a supporting source is recovered.
