A name carried from a defensive win to Hartsville
Nichols scored on a two-yard run in Greenbrier’s 14–7 defensive win over Cheatham County in 1982. Three years later, the school honors record names him the Tobacco Bowl Defensive MVP.
The honor belongs beside the complete result: Haywood won 30–6 at John Kerr Field on November 9, 1985. Bowl recognition and game outcome are preserved together rather than treating the award as evidence of a Greenbrier win.
