A four-year player who threw the final touchdown
The 1989 district preview called Pyles a four-year standout returning to direct the offense. In the opener he completed 1 of 4 passes for 10 yards while sharing snaps with Todd Williamson.
His last recovered scoring play is the season’s closing touchdown: a 26-yard pass to Craig Reed at Portland. Greenbrier’s defense protected the 10–6 lead, and Pyles later appeared on the All-Robertson County honorable-mention list.
