A captain and a scoring standout

Ann Suter Casteel played Greenbrier basketball from 1946 to 1950, graduating in 1950. Her Hall biography records team captaincy, mid-state scoring recognition and three consecutive student-body votes as best female athlete.

The Hall credits her with a 39-point career-high game and 50 consecutive made free throws. The game’s date and opponent, and the span of the free-throw streak, remain unknown.

Ann in the school photographs

Two captions in The Village Green bring Ann’s school connections into view. The first names her with eight other young women. It supplies neither a date nor an occasion, so it does not establish a basketball-team photograph.

A second photograph shows a later gathering of the Class of 1950. Its caption places Ann Suter Casteel third from the left in the back row. “1950” identifies the graduating class; the photograph’s date is not given.

The Nashville Business College connection

Ann continued at Nashville Business College until a serious knee injury ended her basketball career. Her later sports included bowling and golf; the Hall records two holes-in-one.

Lucy Suter Garrett’s Hall biography also places her at Nashville Business College. Dated rosters are still needed to establish their individual seasons and teammates. Ann’s precise relationship to Earl has not yet been documented in the sources used here.
