A forward with a long Greenbrier career
Lucy Suter Garrett started for Greenbrier in eighth grade and remained a basketball starter for five years. Her Hall biography describes a forward known for scoring, with a season as captain and another as co-captain. She also played softball and ran track during her 1938–42 school years.
After Greenbrier, the Hall records three playing years at Nashville Business College. Her later work included 30 years as a secretary and bookkeeper for the Robertson County Board of Education. Greenbrier inducted her into its Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.

The Nashville trail starts before the famous dynasty
Nashville Business College had a nationally competitive women’s team before its celebrated later championship run. The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame places Margaret Sexton Gleaves there in 1939–42 and records national AAU runner-up finishes in 1940 and 1941.
That establishes the earlier program’s place in the sport. Lucy’s exact three seasons, coaches and teammates still need a dated roster or contemporary report.
One of Earl’s sisters
The Village Green lists Lucy and Earl among the nine children of James Henry and Frances Choate Suter. It records Lucy’s marriage to James Garrett. Her funeral-home notice gives her lifespan as December 30, 1923–March 28, 2011.
