October 28, 2005 was Senior Night, the Region 4-3A title game and a regional cable broadcast. The newspaper preview said Greenbrier’s focus was the title, not the streak. By the end of the night, the Bobcats had both.
Before kickoff
The game
White House struck first with a field goal. Kyle Herndon answered on a bootleg. Ricky Ladd’s 73-yard touchdown restored the Blue Devil lead, but Greenbrier immediately flipped the field on the kickoff and Justin Pigg finished the answer for a 14–10 halftime lead.
Michael Seay’s interception helped preserve the advantage before halftime. Late, Pigg drove the ball to the 1 and Herndon’s sneak made it 20–10. Greenbrier recovered the ensuing kickoff fumble and finished the night as Region 4-3A champion.
