From the streak’s beginning to its final year
The Greenbrier Athletic Hall of Fame identifies Bellar as a 1963 graduate who played football and basketball from 1959 through 1963. He was on both undefeated football teams and served as captain as a senior.
The Hall credits him with three straight All-Red River Conference selections and All-Mid-State recognition from both The Tennessean and Nashville Banner in 1960, 1961 and 1962. It also credits him with 11 touchdowns in his senior season.
A name across three seasons
Greenbrier’s captain file lists William Clark Bellar in 1960, 1961 and 1962. The Hall team captions also place him on both the 1960 and 1961 rosters.
After graduation, the Hall says Bellar served two years in the U.S. Army and later coached in Greenbrier’s Junior Pro football program from 1969 through 1981.
