The 1954 season

Myrtle Bellar Ayers captained Greenbrier’s girls basketball team and was named Most Athletic as a senior in 1954. Her Hall biography reports a 14–5 senior-season record and a place in the region tournament.

That account gives the season a starting point in this collection. A full schedule, roster, coach identification and tournament bracket remain to be recovered; the 14–5 is a reported season total.

School service and a Bellar connection

After high school, Myrtle worked as a secretary for the Robertson County Board of Education until retirement. Her Hall biography identifies William Clark Bellar as her younger brother.

  2. The sibling relationship comes from the biography. Its reference to William’s induction year differs from the Hall’s directory; this profile does not repeat that disputed year.
