A catcher from Greenbrier
Austin Peay’s 2003 roster identifies Lori McCoy as a catcher from Greenbrier High School. Wearing No. 25, she was listed as a redshirt freshman.
The Ohio Valley Conference’s following-season outlook names her its 2003 Freshman of the Year. Austin Peay’s later award histories preserve that recognition, connecting a Greenbrier athlete to one of the conference’s major softball honors.
A place in the college record
In an April 14, 2003 news release, Austin Peay reported that McCoy had become the program’s first player to hit two home runs in one game. That is a historical first attributed to the university’s contemporary report.
