A 322–99 varsity era
The Greenbrier Athletic Hall of Fame records Jake Gibbs as Greenbrier principal from 1977–83 and a coach from 1979–93. His varsity girls basketball teams went 322–99, with six district championships/tournament titles, seven conference titles, seven conference tournament championships, two Christmas tournament championships and 14 regional appearances.
1979–80
The Hall identifies the 1979–80 girls team as one of Gibbs' coaching highlights and separately inducts the team.
THE GIBBS ERA OPENS →1986
TSSAA verifies Greenbrier's only girls basketball state appearance. The Lady Cats beat Obion County 47–36 before a 55–54 semifinal loss to South Greene.

The Hall also credits Gibbs with more than 30 players receiving district/conference honors, more than 20 All-Mid-State players and 20 basketball scholarships.
