The state-final season answers its only early setback.
Greenbrier entered Homecoming one week removed from its only regular-season loss. The response was immediate: the Bobcats beat Montgomery Central 42–6 and started another winning streak that carried through the Class 3A state semifinal.
Roger Herndon ran for 271 yards and scored five touchdowns. The performance pushed him past 1,000 rushing yards for the season and became the highest single-game rushing total of his 2,249-yard senior year.
The night sits squarely inside a historic run. Greenbrier finished 13–2, won Region 5-3A and reached the BlueCross Bowl for the first football state-championship appearance in school history.
