2005 vs. White House
The region championship was the stated mission; ending 23 consecutive losses to White House became the night’s lasting memory. White House opened with a field goal before Kyle Herndon answered on a bootleg for a 7–3 Greenbrier lead. Ricky Ladd’s 73-yard touchdown restored the Blue Devil lead, but Greenbrier answered again before halftime.
Herndon returned the ensuing kickoff deep into White House territory and Justin Pigg finished the drive for a 14–10 lead. Michael Seay’s interception stopped another White House threat. Late in the game, Pigg fought to the 1 and Herndon’s sneak made it 20–10. Greenbrier recovered the ensuing kickoff fumble and closed out its first win over White House since 1981 — along with the Region 4-3A title and a third straight region championship.
