Four Shutouts on a New Campus

A plus-17 scoring season unfolded as Greenbrier High moved into its Cunniff Drive home.

Fall 1980

Greenbrier High moved to Cunniff Drive

The Village Green records the high school’s move into the new Cunniff Drive facility in fall 1980. The football season therefore sits inside a larger campus transition, not just a change on the schedule.

On the field

5–5, four shutouts and a plus-17 point margin

Greenbrier blanked Cheatham, Macon, DeKalb and Jo Byrns. Mike Clark’s three touchdowns beat White House, while Portland’s 8–7 comeback decided the district race.

Two difficult headlines

The complete schedules hold at 31–0 and 34–0

The DeKalb headline prints 35–0, but the page’s scoring lines total 31. The Trousdale headline prints 32–0. In both cases, the school list and independent season schedule agree with the retained 31–0 and 34–0 finals.
