4–5. Then 5–4. Then 10–0.
Harold Fletcher’s Greenbrier record is a clean 19–9 across 1953–55, but the season totals show more than a change in wins. Scoring moved from 113–98 to 115–76 to 231–51: a combined 459–225 and a plus-234 margin.
A losing record with a plus-15 point margin.
Four consecutive wins closed the season.
Perfect, with the LCVC championship label.
The record lagged behind the scoring
The first Fletcher team lost five of nine but still outscored its opponents. Its four wins totaled 99–15, while its losses were often low-scoring: White House and Jo Byrns each won 7–0, and Ashland City won 13–7.
The streak begins after four straight losses
Following losses to Bellevue, Jo Byrns, Hume-Fogg and Charlotte, Greenbrier closed 4–0 and outscored White Bluff, White House, Ashland City and East Robertson 83–18. The one-point Ashland City win became the hinge in a matchup that would help settle 1955.
Ten more—and a conference title
The next team never lost. Only Jo Byrns stayed within one score, nine opponents were held to seven points or fewer, and the last five wins totaled 140–19. The closing Ashland City rematch carried the source’s LCVC playoff marker.
