Football Returns

Four recovered wins, one honest question mark and a Greenbrier athlete back to lead the program.

The restart

Four known wins after two no-team years

The master football record does not merely leave 1944 and 1945 blank; it labels both “No Team- WWII.” The next heading names Jimmy Suter’s 1946 team and preserves wins over Coopertown, Cross Plains twice and Cedar Hill.

Adams remains unanswered

Adams appears beneath the four finals, but its score and result are question marks. That means 4–0 is the known record—not proof of a five-game unbeaten finish. The date, site, players and game story are also open.

The rule: Preserve the opponent line, preserve the question mark and wait for another source.
Jimmy Suter

A Greenbrier athlete returns as coach

The Greenbrier Athletic Hall of Fame identifies Suter as a 1938 graduate who played football, basketball and baseball, then returned as a coach. Its profile credits Suter and agriculture teacher James Whitlow with developing the football and baseball fields and preserves a photograph of the first 1946 football team.
