It started in Greenbrier
Before he wore number 62 for Austin Peay, Brady Dorris earned all-district and All-Robertson County recognition as a senior offensive lineman at Greenbrier. He also competed in shot put and discus, placing among the top 15 at the sub-sectional level in both events.
His college connection had family roots: Austin Peay’s player biography notes that his father, Tony, played tennis for the university.
Four years with the Governors
Dorris joined the Austin Peay football program in 2014 and remained on its roster through 2017. He redshirted in his first season, did not see game action in 2015, and later recorded appearances against Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky. His academic work earned Athletic Director’s Honor Roll recognition in fall 2016 and spring 2017.
A career beyond the field
In 2018, Dorris graduated with a bachelor’s degree in health and human performance, concentrating in education. He spent the next three years teaching.
On January 10, 2022, Austin Peay announced his return as assistant director of athletics for development. The role supported scholarships, facilities, coaching resources and relationships with community partners—a new way to contribute to the programs he had once represented as a player.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to give back to my alma mater.”— Brady Dorris, Austin Peay appointment announcement, January 10, 2022
Now coaching at Springfield
Dorris now coaches at Springfield, bringing his Greenbrier and college experience into another chapter in Robertson County sports.
His path has carried him from Greenbrier’s offensive line to college football, teaching, athletics development and coaching.
