One opening loss, then eight straight wins
After Waverly won 23–6, Greenbrier built a 212–74 run through Bellevue, Joelton, White House, Lafayette, Jo Byrns, Mt. Juliet, Portland and Ashland City. Centerville ended the streak, but not the season.
Greenbrier 35, Livingston Academy 6
Livingston intercepted the first play. Greenbrier’s defense answered at the goal line. The surviving account credits Tony Reasoner’s steady work at quarterback and on defense, Dennis Lee’s catches and Dwayne Bagwell’s third-quarter interception before another Bobcat score.

Dorris and Reasoner took the bowl honors
Greenbrier’s honors record names Joe Dorris the Most Valuable Back and Tony Reasoner the Most Valuable Lineman. Pearson told the newspaper he had not dreamed the team would finish 9–2 and praised the community and school around it.
Industrial Bowl is the supported public name
The school score list, statewide bowl record and contemporary page all use Industrial Bowl. Pearson’s later Hall profile says Mid-State Bowl. The difference is preserved, but the three matching contemporary or event records control the heading.
